Rufus King's Romero & Alvarado-Jones Named MCC Student-Athletes of the Week (April 21)
Izabel Romero (Rufus King High School) and Jaiden Alvarado-Jones (Rufus King High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 13-19.
On April 16 at the MCC Day of Distance at Marshall HS, Romero powered the Generals’ girls team to a first-place overall finish, as she anchored Rufus King’s wins in the 4x800M relay and distance medley relay, and tacked on an individual victory in the 400M.
Romero, one of the MCC’s cross country and track stars, is fresh off a dominant indoor season as well, where she also took home first place honors in the high jump, 800M, 1600M, and 3200M events at the indoor track & field championships earlier this month.
Alvarado-Jones has long been the student-athlete to beat in the 400M in the MCC, taking home all-conference honors in the event in both 2022-23 and 2023-24 following his first place finishes at the track & field championships. Alvarado-Jones is off to another strong start as a senior, as he hit the tape first in the 400M at the Riverside Invite on April 14, this time pairing it with a commanding win in the 100M as well.
